The 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ are getting limited-edition models to celebrate two important milestones. The WRX marks 25 years in the U.S., while the BRZ celebrates 15 years.
Subaru has created two special versions of each performance car, called the WRX GD25 and BRZ ZC15. The 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ special editions add exclusive exterior details, interior upgrades and chassis changes, but neither receives an increase in engine power.
Subaru introduced the anniversary models at this year’s Boxerfest in Pennsylvania. Production will be limited to 350 WRX GD25 models and 300 BRZ ZC15 models.
2027 Subaru WRX GD25 Marks 25 Years
The 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ anniversary line up begins with the WRX GD25, which marks the 25th anniversary of the WRX being sold in America. The name refers to the chassis code for the first American market WRX.
The WRX GD25 gets an aggressive exterior treatment centered around a large rear wing. The dry-carbon-fiber wing is considerably larger than the spoiler used on many previous WRX models and is styled after the race car driven by Travis Pastrana in the American Rally Association.
The 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ may share the anniversary theme, but their exterior treatments are quite different. The WRX GD25 uses World Rally Blue paint, gold-finished 19-inch wheels and gold Brembo brake calipers.
The WRX also receives mechanical changes. Subaru adds a front strut-tower brace under the hood and retunes the suspension with a stiffer setup aimed at improving handling on paved roads.
2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ Keep Their Existing Powertrains
The two special edition models (WRX and BRZ) from Subaru for 2027 have no increase in horsepower. The 2.4-liter flat-four turbocharged engine of the WRX GD25 remains unchanged at 271 horsepower.
The 6-speed manual transmission is the only available option. The Recaro seats in the WRX GD25 are trimmed in microsuede and an STI short shifter has been added to provide a more focused look inside the vehicle, but these additions do not change the engine’s power output.
2027 Subaru BRZ ZC15 Celebrates 15 Years
The BRZ receives its own anniversary edition as part of the 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ lineup. Called the ZC15, the model marks 15 years since the BRZ name first appeared.
The BRZ ZC15 takes a different visual approach from the WRX GD25. It uses a white exterior combined with matte bronze wheels and bronze Brembo brake calipers. Subaru also adds special door decals to distinguish the anniversary model.
Like the WRX, the BRZ receives additional chassis bracing and unique interior details. The BRZ ZC15 is also offered exclusively with a manual transmission.
Only 300 BRZ ZC15 models are planned.
No Extra Power for the Anniversary Models
The 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ editions focus on appearance and chassis equipment rather than additional engine output.
The WRX GD25 receives the more aggressive hardware package, including the dry-carbon rear wing, front strut-tower brace and retuned suspension. The BRZ ZC15 gets its own bracing and appearance upgrades.
Both models retain manual transmissions, which keeps the anniversary editions closely connected to the driver-focused character of the WRX and BRZ.
2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ Pricing Has Not Been Announced
Subaru has not released official pricing for the 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ special editions.
The equipment levels are expected to put both models around the pricing range of their current tS counterparts. The WRX GD25 could be priced in the mid-$40,000 range, while the BRZ ZC15 could come in at around $40,000 or slightly below.
Those figures are estimates and should not be treated as Subaru’s confirmed pricing.
How WRX Pricing Has Changed Over 25 Years
The 2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ anniversary models also provide a chance to look at how the WRX’s pricing has changed over the years.
A 2002 WRX originally cost $24,520. After adjusting for inflation, that figure is slightly above the $44,995 price of a current WRX tS.
The standard WRX will remain available at a significantly lower starting price. The entry-level version costs $32,995 and has the same 271-hp engine and six-speed manual gearbox as the higher-priced variants. It does not include all of the features found on the more expensive versions, but it retains the core WRX powertrain and manual transmission.

How the 2027 WRX GD25 and BRZ ZC15 Differ
Subaru will introduce two special edition versions of their 2027 WRX and BRZ models for the 25th and 15th anniversaries respectively. Each version features a unique body kit and chassis enhancements; however, neither version increases the engine’s power output.
A more aggressive appearance is featured on the WRX GD25, whereas the BRZ ZC15 features a less aggressive look. World Rally Blue (paint), Gold Wheels, Gold Brembo Brake Calipers and an oversized Dry Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler can be found on the WRX GD25. White Paint, Matte Bronze Wheels, Bronze Brembo Brake Calipers and Anniversary Graphic Accents can be found on the BRZ ZC15. Only 350 WRX GD25 Models and 300 BRZ ZC15 Models are planned for production by Subaru.
Both models will include Manual Transmissions. The WRX GD25 commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the WRX in the U.S., while the BRZ ZC15 commemorates the 15th Anniversary of the BRZ.
