Audi has priced the redesigned Audi Q7 2027, and the base model now costs $72,195 — nearly $9,000 more than the outgoing entry price of $63,295. Before that lands as a dealbreaker, there is one piece of context that changes how the number reads: the four-cylinder engine that made the old base price possible is gone, and every 2027 Q7 now starts with a more powerful V6.
But here is what the headline misses: Audi did not just raise prices. It quietly removed the engine that made the old base price possible.
Turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder: gone. Not optional, not deprioritised — removed from every Q7 configuration. Every version of the Audi Q7 2027 now comes with the new twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 producing 429 horsepower. Base trim, mid trim, top trim — same engine, no exceptions. What you are really looking at is not a price hike on the same car. It is a car that now starts at a higher specification than before.
Run the Audi Q7 2027 numbers properly and the story shifts. V6 Premium Plus last year: $74,495. The Audi Q7 2027 base: $72,195. Cheaper than the equivalent V6 spec from 2026. The buyer who was already planning to get the V6 is actually saving money. The buyer who wanted the cheapest possible Q7 with the smallest engine has been cut loose — that configuration simply does not exist anymore.
Audi Has Been Moving Away From Four-Cylinders in Larger Vehicles for Years
This Audi Q7 2027 engine change did not happen overnight.
The A6 does not offer a four-cylinder in the US. The A7 does not. The Q8 does not. The Q7 four-cylinder was already an outlier — a holdover from an era when entry-level luxury buyers needed a lower price point to get through the showroom door. Audi has been steadily removing that option across its lineup, and the Audi Q7 2027 is the last domino falling.
There is a commercial logic to it. Fewer configurations simplify production and push buyers toward higher-margin powertrains. There is also a product logic: 261 horsepower in a vehicle that weighs over 4,700 pounds and needs to carry seven people is technically sufficient and genuinely uninspiring. No one bought the four-cylinder Q7 for the driving experience. Price was the reason. The Audi Q7 2027 removes that option and the buyers who needed it.
What Each Trim Actually Costs — And What Changed
Three trims for the standard Audi Q7 2027, same as before but with a different reference point.
Premium at $72,195. Last year’s Premium was $63,295 with the four-cylinder. There was no V6 Premium — that spec did not exist. So comparing these two is comparing a new configuration to a discontinued one. The fairer question is whether $72,195 for a 429-horsepower V6 three-row SUV represents value, and against the market, the answer is yes.
Premium Plus at $76,595. This one is easier to track. V6 Premium Plus last year: $74,495. Audi Q7 2027 Premium Plus: $76,595. $2,100 more for a redesigned car with a stronger engine. That gap is real but defensible.
Prestige: $86,195. Last year’s Prestige was already V6 at $78,195. The Audi Q7 2027 Prestige is $8,000 more with no powertrain upgrade to point to. That money is buying the redesign and new features. Whether it is worth it depends on how much the buyer values what changed.
Every Audi Q7 2027 trim: 429-horsepower V6, eight-speed auto, quattro AWD. Previous V6 made 355. Returning buyers get 74 more horsepower for free.
The SQ7 Gets Genuinely Faster and Structurally Simpler
The performance variant got the more interesting Audi Q7 2027 update.
Old SQ7: 500 horsepower. Respectable but the X5 M Competition runs 617 and the Cayenne GTS runs 493. The 2027 SQ7 at 591 horsepower now sits between both — no longer the polite choice at the performance end of the segment.
SQ7: two trims last year, one now. Premium Plus was $95,095. Prestige was $101,095. For 2027: single unnamed spec at $99,995. Saves $1,100 versus the old Prestige. Costs $4,900 more than the old Premium Plus. It lands between both old price points. Prestige buyers from last year save $1,100. Premium Plus buyers pay $4,900 more. Buyers who wanted to save money by choosing the entry trim no longer have that option.
The Q7 Is Also a Completely New Car
Under all the pricing news: the Audi Q7 2027 is also a full generation redesign. Not a refresh. Not updated headlights and a new screen. A new exterior from bumper to bumper, a reworked interior, and the latest version of Audi’s MMI infotainment and driver assistance systems.
Audi has not published the complete feature breakdown yet. The configurator is live on the Audi USA website and is the best current source for understanding exactly what each trim includes and what options cost. Worth noting before you spend time building one: Carrara White is the only paint colour included in the base price. Every other colour adds $595.
How It Compares to the BMW X5
The BMW X5 — redesigned for 2027 and the closest German competitor — starts at $69,800. $69,800 for the X5 versus $72,195 for the Audi Q7 2027. $2,395 difference. X5 has 394 horsepower, Q7 has 429. Close numbers. Different vehicles entirely.
X5 seats five. Audi Q7 2027 seats seven, standard. BMW’s three-row SUV is the X7 — starts above $90,000. Buyer needing three rows in a German badge under $80,000 has one real option right now.
Seven seats, 429 horsepower, AWD, redesigned interior, $72,195. The Audi Q7 2027 price looks different once the competitive picture is actually in frame.
