Porsche Offers Apple CarPlay Retrofit for 2009–2016 911, Boxster and Cayman

The Porsche PCCM Plus retrofit system will be available for 911, Boxster, and Cayman models from 2009–2016. The updated system is expected to reach authorized Porsche dealerships in the first quarter of 2027.

The Porsche PCCM Plus retrofit will replace the old infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen and also provide new features that were not present on these vehicles at the time of purchase, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Porsche’s previous PCCM units were developed for some of its oldest vehicles. The initial versions became available in 2015 and could be installed into Porsche vehicles built between the 1960’s and the 1990’s.

An additional revision of the unit was released in 2020 which allowed for installation into additional models that were manufactured in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s (such as the 996 generation 911). A new version of the PCCM unit called PCCM Plus will allow for installation into a different set of Porsche vehicles; these vehicles include select 2009-2016 Porsche 911’s, Boxsters, and Caymans.

7.0-Inch Screen Adds CarPlay and Android Auto

The main hardware change is the 7.0-inch touchscreen. It provides access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with navigation and music functions.

The system can also display vehicle information including oil pressure, oil temperature and speed-limit information.

Some functions are specific to the Porsche models receiving the retrofit. On compatible Boxster and Cayman models, the screen can provide visual information from the car’s existing parking assistance system.

Navigation Can Favor Scenic Roads

Porsche’s navigation system also includes a Scenic Roads function.

Rather than always selecting a route based on the shortest or fastest journey, the feature can favor roads with more curves or scenic sections.

The system also supports other standard navigation functions and can display the route through the new touchscreen.

Porsche Keeps the Factory-Style Interior

The new display is designed specifically for the applicable Porsche models rather than being a universal aftermarket touchscreen.

Owners can customize the screen’s appearance to match the exterior of their car. Porsche recommends having the PCCM Plus system installed by a dealer.

That approach is particularly relevant for owners who want modern connectivity without fitting a visibly aftermarket head unit into the original dashboard.

Porsche Hasn’t Announced Pricing Yet

Porsche has not announced the price of the latest PCCM Plus system or provided an exact dealer launch date. The company says it will become available in early 2027.

The previous PCCM Plus system started at $1,475, giving some indication of where the new system could sit, although Porsche has not confirmed that the latest version will use similar pricing.

The new retrofit will bring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation and a modern touchscreen to selected 2009–2016 Porsche 911, Boxster and Cayman models while retaining the factory-style appearance of the interior.
