Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot has been introduced to the public by CEER Motors as a line of electric vehicles. Unlike most of the other electric cars available for purchase (which are typically in the form of an EV sedan or SUV), CEER’s vehicles will be built as wedged shaped vehicles featuring gull wing doors. In addition to these unique features, each vehicle will have three electric motors and a 112 kWh battery.
Both first-generation models (Sedan & SUV) from CEER Motors will produce 850 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. CEER Motors has announced a higher output model capable of producing 1,111 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet. According to CEER Motors, the higher-output Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot sedan can reach 62 mph within 2.1 seconds.
The Saudi Arabian based automobile manufacturer is supported financially by both the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund and Foxconn, a major electronics manufacturer located in Taiwan. CEER Motors plans on producing their vehicles at a new manufacturing facility located in King Abdullah Economic City.
Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot Debuts as a Sedan and SUV
The Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot line will come in two different body styles, a sedan and an SUV, rather than a single body style (a sedan and an SUV) as opposed to one. A sedan will have a very long, low roofline; an SUV will be much taller than the sedan and have a shorter overall length. Both models are built on a wedge-shaped profile and both will have narrow lighting elements.
Both models’ front lighting will extend across their noses and both models’ primary headlights will be located at the bottom of the front bumper. CEER has included thirty-two vertical LED elements into the front lighting system.
The number represents the year 1932 when Saudi Arabia became a kingdom. Both models’ rear lighting systems will mirror the same thin, horizontally-oriented design that both models use for their front lighting systems.
The doors are one of the most unusual parts of the design. Both vehicles use gullwing doors with glass sections. CEER says the glass can change between transparent and opaque when the driver presses a button.
The wheels are another part of the Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot design that connects the vehicles to Saudi Arabia. The company uses triangular forged-aluminum wheels and says their design was inspired by Saudi architecture.
The look of the sedan shares some common design elements with previous concepts like the Sbarro Challenge and Bertone Nuccio. In terms of how it looks, the SUV is also similar to the 2010 Cadillac Urban Luxury concept due to the fact that they both have relatively small dimensions (tall but narrow) and are very geometric in shape.
The Exobot Sedan Is More Than 17 Feet Long
While both vehicles share many of the same design elements, the SUV has much larger wheels arches and a higher ground clearance which provides a very noticeable difference in the way they sit on the road. CEER has also utilized a rather large windshield. According to CEER, the windshield is 94.5 inches and angled at 15 degrees.
In addition to using a large windshield, CEER has coated the windshield with a reflective material to minimize the impact of direct sun light. Given the development of this vehicle for the Saudi Market, this use of a reflective coating on the windshield is especially important.
Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot Makes 850 HP
The Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot uses three electric motors and an all-wheel-drive system.
The First Edition has 850 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. CEER says the Exobot Sedan goes from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. It says the Exobot SUV goes from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.
CEER has shown another version of the car with even more power – 1,111 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque.
With this new version of the car, CEER says the sedan will go from 0-60 in 2.1 seconds and have a maximum speed of 155 miles per hour. CEER says the SUV will go from 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and have a maximum speed of 130 miles per hour.
CEER has not announced when the 1,111-horsepower engine will be released in addition to the 850-horsepower First Edition.
A 112-kWh Battery Sits Under the Exobot
Both versions of the Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot will use the same 112-kWh battery and 800-volt electrical architecture and have the same type of power supply (800 volts). According to CEER’s website, the sedan version of this model can travel as far as 416 miles on one charge under the conditions of the NEDC test.
The SUV version of this model was able to travel as far as 347 miles on one charge under the conditions of the NEDC test. The above mileage ratings for both versions of the vehicle are based upon the results obtained during the NEDC testing process. These mileage ratings are much higher than what would be expected based upon the results of the EPA’s equivalent testing process.
According to EPA estimates, the sedan version of this model would likely only be capable of traveling approximately 318 miles on one charge.
In contrast, the SUV version of this model would likely only be capable of traveling approximately 265 miles on one charge. Both versions of the vehicle feature a high-capacity charging system that can provide energy at speeds of up to 250 kW.
CEER also states that it should be possible to charge both versions of the vehicle from 10 percent capacity to 80 percent capacity within 30 minutes.
While CEER does state that the vehicle can maintain its highest possible charging speed for some period of time; however, they have not yet provided detailed information regarding how long the vehicle can maintain that speed.
A 48-Inch Screen Dominates the Cabin
Inside the Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot, a 48-inch display stretches from one side of the cabin to the other. that extends from one side of the vehicle (pillar) to the other. There’s a second 10.4-inch display in the center of the dash for other controls; there are two 8-inch displays for those riding in the back.
The steering wheel is designed as a yoke. CEER has included a scent dispenser into the Exobot which can dispense three different types of fragrances.
The large dash display is combined with a cabin layout which does not include the typical instrument panel layout seen in most new electric sedans and SUVs.
Air Suspension and Rear-Wheel Steering
The Exobot uses air suspension, steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering.
The SUV has 11.8 inches of ground clearance.
CEER also says the vehicles support hands-free highway driving and automated lane changes. The company has not provided a complete list of the driver-assistance hardware and software included with the production versions.
Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot Is Designed for Extreme Heat
The Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot has also been developed around the extreme heat and strong sunlight found in the region.
CEER says it can reduce the cabin temperature from 149 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in 10 minutes. The reflective windshield coating is another part of the vehicle’s approach to dealing with strong sunlight.
The company has not released detailed information about the battery thermal-management system or how the cooling system performs during extended high-temperature driving.
Production Is Planned in King Abdullah Economic City
CEER plans to build the Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot Sedan and SUV at its new factory in King Abdullah Economic City.
The automaker is backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund and Foxconn. The partnership gives CEER access to both Saudi investment and Foxconn’s manufacturing and technology background.
The company has been developing the brand as Saudi Arabia’s own automotive manufacturer. The Exobot models are the first vehicles to emerge from that project.
CEER expects the initial sales push to focus on Saudi Arabia, with expansion into other Middle Eastern markets planned afterward.
CEER Plans Seven Models by 2030
The Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot Sedan and SUV are the first two models in a much larger product plan.
CEER says it intends to have seven vehicles in its lineup by 2030. The company has also mentioned future compact and midsize models, although it has not revealed the complete range.
The Saudi Arabia CEER Exobot gives CEER its first production models: a large electric sedan and SUV with three motors, a 112-kWh battery and a design centered around gullwing doors and large screens.
