New Car Launches

Tesla Model 3 Adds More Power and a Bigger 16-Inch Screen

Tesla has updated the Model 3 with a larger touchscreen, more horsepower for the Performance model and quicker acceleration for the Premium AWD version.

The Tesla Model 3 now uses a 16-inch touchscreen instead of the previous 15.4-inch display. Tesla has also increased the listed power of the Model 3 Performance from 510 horsepower to 528 horsepower.

The Performance model gets seven more miles of estimated range, while the Premium AWD can now accelerate from zero to 60 mph in a claimed 3.8 seconds instead of 4.2 seconds.

Tesla has not increased the prices of the Model 3 versions receiving these updates.

16-Inch Touchscreen

The Tesla Model 3 now has a 16-inch center touchscreen across the range. The previous screen measured 15.4 inches.

Tesla says the new display also has a higher pixel density. The company is already using a 16-inch screen in the Model Y, and the Tesla Model 3 now gets the same screen size.

The center display continues to handle many of the car’s functions. Tesla has not announced a separate model year for the screen change. The company regularly introduces equipment updates during production rather than waiting for a traditional model-year change.

The larger screen is included in the existing Tesla Model 3 pricing.

Model 3 Performance Gets 528 Horsepower

The Tesla Model 3 Performance now has a listed 528 horsepower, compared with 510 horsepower when the Performance version launched in 2024.

Despite the additional 18 horsepower, Tesla continues to list the same 2.9-second zero-to-60-mph time.

Tesla has not provided a new acceleration figure for the Performance model. The company continues to quote 2.9 seconds for the run from zero to 60 mph.

The Performance model also receives a black headliner.

Range Increases to 316 Miles

The Tesla Model 3 Performance gets more estimated range as well.

Tesla previously listed 309 miles of range for the Performance model. The updated figure is 316 miles, adding seven miles.

The increase in range comes alongside the higher power rating. Tesla has not provided additional details explaining the change in range.

The 2.9-second zero-to-60-mph claim remains unchanged.

Premium AWD Gets Faster

The Tesla Model 3 Premium AWD also gets a revised acceleration figure.

Tesla previously rated the model at 4.2 seconds from zero to 60 mph. The new claim is 3.8 seconds.

Tesla has not said why the Premium AWD is now quicker. The company has not provided a new horsepower figure for the model, so it is not clear whether the improvement comes from additional motor output or another change to the vehicle.

The Premium AWD’s estimated range remains 346 miles.

This means Tesla has changed the acceleration figure without changing the published range figure or providing a new power rating.

Prices Stay Unchanged

Tesla will not be changing the price of the Tesla Model 3 after adding equipment and increasing performance. The base Model 3 (rear-wheel drive) has a starting price of $38,630. The Premium all-wheel-drive Model 3 starts at $49,130. The high-performance Model 3 starts at $56,630.

The 16-inch touchscreen will be standard on the revised Tesla Model 3, and not an additional-cost option. The Performance model’s increased power rating, increased range, and black headliner will also be available at no additional cost. Tesla does not use the traditional “model-year” method of introducing new vehicles like other auto manufacturers do.

Rather than waiting until the end of the year to make production modifications, Tesla will make those modifications when the time is right. As of this writing, Tesla has not released a specific date for the arrival of the revised Tesla Model 3 to North America.

Vehicle-to-Load Is Not Available in the U.S.

The Tesla Model 3 receives another feature in some international markets that is not available in North America.

Tesla has added vehicle-to-load functionality in China, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The system allows the vehicle to supply electricity to external devices.

The function will be able to supply power from the car’s battery to external devices, however, Tesla has not implemented this feature into the Tesla Model 3 for sale in the United States.

Tesla has not provided an explanation as to why the vehicle-to-load function was added to these other markets, while it was omitted from the North American Tesla Model 3.

What Changed on the Model 3

The 16 inch touchscreen on the Tesla Model 3 replaces the old 15.4 inch touchscreen throughout the Model 3 lineup. Tesla stated that they have increased the number of pixels per inch on this new screen.

The performance version of the Tesla Model 3 now produces an increase in horse power (hp), from 510 hp to 528 hp. As well, the estimated mile range for the performance version will go up from 309 miles to 316 miles. Tesla still lists a 0-60 mph time for the performance version at 2.9 seconds.

The premium all wheel drive (awd) version of the Tesla Model 3 will now be able to achieve a quicker 0-60 mph time of 3.8 seconds, as opposed to the prior 4.2 seconds. Tesla did not provide a new hp rating nor state why there was an improvement in acceleration.

Pricing for the Tesla Model 3 continues to remain unchanged. The price for the rwd version is priced at $38,630. The awd premium version is priced at $49,130. The performance version is priced at $56,630.

Tesla’s vehicle to load feature offered in china, australia, new zealand, and south korea is unavailable on the north american Tesla Model 3.

The updates leave the Tesla Model 3 with a larger center display, more listed power in the Performance model, a higher range estimate and a quicker Premium AWD acceleration claim, while Tesla keeps the existing prices.
